I had two distant cousins named Junia too. One was Junia Kay born in the 40s.

Katie Says:

just to clarify real quick: Junia was definitely not a man, that's just something people made up after the fact because they got offended over the idea of a female apostle. the idea that she was a man has been widely debunked and is not present in most modern translations or commentaries.

I would also pronounce it the same as Junior. I think when introducing her people would assume she is using the nickname Junior, and it would only be if they saw it spelled that they'd know it's a real name. I do like it though

I think this is a gorgeous name! I have a daughter named Juno, so I won't be using it, but it's so pretty, regal and distinctive. I think Zac Hanson's daughter's name - Junia Rosa Ruth - is an absolutely jaw-droppingly beautiful combo!

For me, Junia has three syllables (JOO-nee-uh) while Junior has two and ends with an R sound (JOO-nyer). I never thought of them as similar, and still don't really now.

Essa Says:

I pronounce this emphasising the second syllable like joo-NEE-uh in order to differentiate it from Junior.

If my dog wasn't named Juno, I'd totally use this lovely name as a middle name for a future daughter. But my dog's name is Juno, and so I can not.
