I live in Texas and there is a city in east Texas with this name. It is pronounce like the letter "N"-ess and I've never heard anyone struggle with it

I think it is supposed to be pronounced N-es, so then it wouldn't sound like the less than desirable word :) but it is still a problem do to being mispronounced
