I don't see any improvement in spelling EMILY any other way. It's a beautiful name in its original form

yeah, visually I think it gives better balance but it gets iffy with pronunciation.

I think visually is where it stops for me, as I do agree it is unwise to replace one letter with another that sounds differently. (Cameran, Colten, etc.)

I think it might also cause pronounciation problems like Emely fells like it would be pronounced (e-MEL-ee) like "Smelly" unlike Emily which has a clearly protracted "i" like "Em-ill-ee". So it would be like "smelly emely".

I do think this spelling looks fresher than the original and honesly I prefer if but it will only cause lots of spelling problems. :(
