I think I prefer Gwyneira though both are lovely.

I'm not claiming to be an expert, hence 'think' not 'know'. I haven't even been to Wales, that's just what I've found out through my own internet research.

Really, name me one place in Wales where they say Eira as Eye-ra?

Clock's ticking genius.

Eira is pronounced as Ay-Rah or Eh-Ra in Welsh, not Eye-Ra. If you're really so desperate to save yourself confusion, just name her Steve.

We pronounce our three-year-old Ira, though we are aware that most Welsh speakers would say Ay-ra.

I definitely prefer the AY-ra pronunciation. Although I think both (AY-ra and EYE-ra) are legitimate pronunciations depending on where in Wales one is.
