My name is Eartha. I am named for my grandmother and her name was Earthabell. I have never had one person ever when told my name refer to it as you have. Truth be told I have never liked the ring of it myself. It is and Old English name and I am always (to my surprise) complimented on it. And when people hear Earthabell forget it! Eartha means of the earth, what a beautiful notion.

Surely in the "Name Info" section, Nameberry shouldn't be making judgements? Just tell us a little about the name, but please stay objective. "Dated and dry" - how insulting. This is a gorgeous name!

Mhill46 Says:

I strongly disagree with nameberry's opinion on this. This is a very beautiful name. Not "dry" or "dated" at all.

schenden Says:

What a condescending description. I had respect for this site, but to read the words "dated and dry" to describe the name Eartha is pretty disheartening. This is a lovely name.

It should be added that Eartha M. M. White also holds this namesake. She was a philanthropist in the early 20th century at the height of the Great Depression who had immense impact on countless lives during that time.

cherrydubois Says:

I think it's beautiful, not "dated and dry". A good, strong nature name that still has a cute vintage charm to it, and a great namesake.

awheezie Says:

I know a woman named Eartha, she is sweet and happy, always friendly and smiling
