I really like this version of Augustus/Augustin/Augustine. It's more subtle than the grand emperorlike Augustus, not as saint/medieval-ish as Augustine, and more grounded and unexpected, IMO. Augusten is a very olden, Ivy League, collegiate name to me, but the nicknames Augie and Gus make it more wearable and endearing in an old-mannish way, just as is the case with the other August- variants.
