Gender: Female Meaning of Adah: "ornament" Origin of Adah: Hebrew

Adah Origin and Meaning

The name Adah is a girl's name of Hebrew origin meaning "ornament".

Adah is a biblical name twice over—one was the mother of Jabal and Jubal, the other was a wife of Esau. The latter Adah and Esau’s descendants settled in Edom and became the Edomites. Adah is unrelated to the visually similar name Ada, which is Germanic in origin.

Pronounced AH-dah, this unusual biblical name—the first female name in Genesis after Eve and given to a number of women in the Old Testament—is a softer Ada equivalent.

ay-duh because of the fact it’s only one "d" which is english phonics but there is a lot of rule that english breaks such as "i" before "e" except after "c" so haha

This is so pretty! It's interesting how one letter can change the dynamic of a name; I'm not overly fond of Ada, but I love Adah!
