Despicable Names

Names I hate. Some are real. Some are crap u-neek names that I've come across.
  1. Jude
    • Origin:

Latin diminutive of Judah, Hebrew, Arabic
    • Meaning:

"praised; to be generous, to be good to others"
    • Description:

Jude is a modern star, maintaining a steady level of popularity -- but not TOO much popularity, in the US at least. Thank Jude Law and the great Lennon-McCartney song "Hey Jude", double-handedly responsible for propelling Jude up the charts.
  2. Malachi
    • Origin:

      Hebrew
    • Meaning:

      "my messenger"
    • Description:

An Old Testament name with a Gaelic lilt, Malachi entered the list in 1987.
  3. Damian
    • Origin:

      Greek
    • Meaning:

      "to tame, subdue"
    • Description:

Damian has sidestepped its demonic horror movie overtones, leaving a basically friendly and charming Irish image. A well-used upper-class name in England, it is growing in popularity here.
  4. Nevaeh
    • Origin:

      Modern invented name
    • Description:

Nevaeh: an already bold word name with the unusual twist of being spelled backwards; a nightmare for those who love traditional, classic names; a divisive option on name forums across the internet; and a spelling and pronunciation that aren’t quite intuitive at first glance.
  5. Samiyah
    • Origin:

      Arabic
    • Meaning:

      "high, exalted, praised"
    • Description:

Samiyah hovers near the bottom of the US Top 1000, used expecially by Arab-American and African-American families. Variations include Samiya, Samiah, and Samia.
  6. Damiyah
