The most popular names in Turkey for 2024 were Defne — the Turkish form of Daphne — for girls, and Alparslan for boys. Alparslan means "heroic lion", and is the title of an ancient sultan.

Along with Defne, other popular girl names in Turkey include Asel, Zeynep, Asya, and Gökçe. In addition to Alparslan, the top boy names include Göktuğ, Yusuf, Metehan, and Ömer Asaf.

Turkey is a majority Muslim country, and many of their popular baby names are either Arabic names with Islamic significance, or Turkish variations of these. For example, both Muhammed and its Turkish form Mehmet are in the Top 30 boy names. Alongside these on the charts are names from the Turkish language, and from ancient history and legends.
