About Korben
Korben is a spelling that gets some attention since Bruce Willis's character name in The Fifth Element was Korben Dallas.
Korben for girls
Korben is traditionally a masculine name with Slavic origins, though this entry lists it as feminine, which is an unusual usage. The name derives from the Slavic element 'korb' meaning 'basket' or possibly from 'koru' meaning 'crow.' It gained international recognition after the 1997 film 'The Fifth Element' featured Bruce Willis as the character Korben Dallas. As a feminine name, Korben would be extremely rare and unconventional. The spelling with a 'K' rather than 'C' (Corben) gives it a more modern, edgy feel. While not common in any gender, the name has a strong, distinctive sound that appeals to parents seeking unique options that break traditional gender norms.
Pronounced KOR-ben.
As of October 2026, Korben ranked #3167 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #1332 in 2013.
