About Jamarius
Jamarius is several things at once: firstly, an elaboration of Jamar, itself derived from the Arabic Jamal meaning "beautiful"; secondly, a twist on Latin Marius, a name relating to the Roman god of war, Mars, or to the Latin word for "male"; thirdly, a blend of both origins, giving it combined meanings such as "beautiful man" or "Mars is beautiful".
Predominantly used among African American parents, Jamarius has never reached the popularity status of Jamar in the 80s or of Jamari more recently. It was, however, given to 22 boys in the US in 2024.
Pronounced juh-MAR-ee-us.
As of October 2026, Jamarius ranked #6611 for boys in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #1444 for boys in 2003.
