About Eivor
An old-lady name in Scandinavia today, but Eivor may get a fresh start in the US, where it is associated with Assassain's Creed character Eivor Varinsdottir. Interestingly, the video game inspired several sets of parents to use the name for their sons in 2021 — the first year Eivor was ever recorded — but it has never made the charts for girls.
Eivor for girls
Another modern association is Eivør Pálsdóttir, a Faroese pop singer known mononymously as Eivør.
Eivor for boys
Traditionally a feminine name in Scandinavian culture, where these days it's mostly considered a grandmother name. Americans may associate it with Eivor Varinsdottir, a character from Assassain's Creed. She is likely the inspiration for the parents who gave this name to twelve boys and eight girls in 2022.
Pronounced AY-vor.
As of October 2026, Eivor ranked #15829 in US births in 2023 SSA, peaked at #11488 in 2022.
