Predicting a Starbaby Name: A sibling for Lincoln

Predicting a Starbaby Name: A sibling for Lincoln

By Tara Ryazansky

High profile celeb couple and unique baby namers, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have mentioned in more than a few interviews that they’re “completely stumped” when it comes to naming baby #2. They already have a one-year-old girl named Lincoln, a name that they chose when Bell was pregnant and decided to use regardless of the sex of their child.

Will they take the same unusual approach once again? Will they go with a theme and pick something like presidential Kennedy, or another Nebraska city like Omaha, or the auto-related Ford?

Here are my suggestions for the couple.

For a Girl

Lilac– When the couple picked Lincoln for their first girl, they made it clear that they don’t shy away from the unusual. Maybe they will pick an uncommon but on-trend floral name like Lilac.

Bronwen– This one has a similar cadence to Lincoln, but not so much that it feels too matchy. Plenty of other Welsh names would fit well with the sound of Lincoln and stand out in a unique way.

Augusta Using the Nameberry “People who like…” feature is perfect for anyone in need of a little name inspiration. Searching Lincoln yielded plenty of great suggestions, but I especially like this one. It’s strong but sweet.

For a Boy

Marz This German variation of March could be an homage to Bell‘s role as Veronica Mars. I think that the name is strong, but playful and very unique. It reminds me a bit of Dad’s name Dax.

Levi Though this iconoclastic couple might file this one under unisex, I think that Levi would be an excellent choice for a boy. It has a rugged appeal and works well with Lincoln.

Reed– This is my boy pick from the Nameberry generated list of names that pair well with Lincoln. I love this name because it’s both hip and underused, and also so simple and familiar.

For Either

Arendelle- The -elle ending does make this somewhat feminine, but the first syllable sounds like familiar biblical boy choice, Aaron. I think that with the popularity of Frozen and the cute nickname possibilities like Ari or Della, this one has real possibilities!

CrosbyDax Shepard plays the most creatively named Braverman on TV show Parenthood. Maybe he will be inspired to use the name for his future child.

Ever– This name, and its variations, seems to be one of the go-to celebrity baby names right now. So my advice to any celeb who isn’t quite sure what to name their baby would be to consider going with Ever. Everyone else is doing it.

What names do you think would pair well with sister Lincoln? What would you suggest to the couple?
