Funny, I have a 12-year-old character named Whimsy as well. The best part is, she's totally spunky and moody. She can be very whimsical when she's in a good mood, but she usually isn't :)

I've got a character named Whimsy (I don't fully recall why I called her that), but I really like it. It suits her, and I think it would work in the real world, too, especially as a nickname, maybe for Wilma/Wilhelmina/Winona, or, as a previous poster has mentioned, Winifred.

I met a little girl called Whimsy buy it was her nickname for, if I remember correctly, Winifred. I thought it was cute :)
