This name was used for a character on the TV series Stargate Atlantis. I'm not sure this is the same spelling, but her full name was Tayla Amogen.

Yeah, it sounds just like Taylor!
In Australia it's very popular,
along with Skyla, Skylar's Australian counterpart.
It's a nice idea but just doesn't hit the right mark. Sounds incomplete.

As flora_kate said, it's just Taylor in an Australian accent, it's the most common female spelling in Australia. However, I do like Taylor, so I don't see the value in Tayla.
