Always knew it was pronounced the first way, having family living there, but my geography teacher always pronounced it the second way and it drove me insane!

Just wanted to clear this up: the correct pronunciation (if you're referring to the state) is "neh-VADD-uh" not "neh-VAHD-uh". The A in the second syllable sound be short, same as the A in "apple" or "cat". I used to live in the state, so it kinda ticks me off when people don't know how to say it right (and most people don't).

Yes, I agree! I've been to Nevada several times, and it's just gorgeous. There's all these beautiful deserts and mountains and canyons, and then of course there's Las Vegas, too.... It's such a beautiful state.
