josephinedagnall Says:

This is the only patronymic surname I like, but it's gorgeous!

Leah_ Says:

I can't name that start with the "McK" sound. McKenna, McKenzie, McKayla. They are all awful! McKenna is better than the other two but I still don't like it.

Daiseymae Says:

It reminds me of the 1969 film "McKenna's Gold" starring Gregory Peck. It is an Irish last name, and it sounds too masculine for a female.

JossieChris Says:

My husbands cousin used this name though the Makenna version. I loved it as soon as my mother made me watch Somewhere in Time as a child. She now goes by Kenna and is in her teens and lives in another state. Can I still use McKenna? We would rarely see each other but would it be strange when we do? Do I have to ask his cousins permission or just make it known? Or should I just let it go? Even if it's always been the name I wanted to use? I also like Madden and Madigan.

McKenna Says:

I've never heard a bad comment about my name...just the opposite actually. It is becoming more popular now but it wasn't in 1972. I love my name :)

Kenna is pretty for a girl. I don't see the appeal in Mckenna.

I am aware it is a surname, but authenticity has nothing to do with whether or not I like a name.

clairels Says:

I do, but sometimes I wonder whether the people who use it do.

Guest Says:

Do you all realize that this is an authentic Irish surname and not a made up trend like McKayla? 😕

clairels Says:

Maybe I'll use it for a boy and blow everyone's minds.

I'd like this if people around me didn't say "mc-kenny" which I don't even know how you get that from McKenna.

raevynstar Says:

I prefer Makenna-it looks more like a name and less like a trend.

unicornluvgirl Says:

Mean girl at my school named this. Mean McKenna (lol, I don't actually call her that). Not a very nice name in my opinion, anyways.
