Gender: Male Meaning of Maxon: "greatest" Origin of Maxon: Modern invented name, elaboration of Max, Latin

Maxon Origin and Meaning

The name Maxon is a boy's name of Latin origin meaning "greatest".

The newly-styled Maxon takes its cue from Jaxon, another elaboration of a classic name on the rise. Maxon is not bad, as invented names go, yet it's hard for us to advocate for Maxon over Maxwell, Maxfield, Maximus, or just plain Max.

This is in the spirit of names I would have invented as a child.

This is probably the only Max name I would happily use for my son

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the association with Kiera Cass's The Selection series. Maxon is the name of the protagonist's love interest and partner, and basically the most important person for the first three books. Truthfully, I thought Kiera Cass had made the name up.

I don't see the point in inventing more Max names, when there are plenty in existence already. It's okay, but I much prefer Maxwell.

My 4 month old is named Maxon James but we really just call him Max. Our 3 year old daughter calls him his full name lol. I loved it way more than Maxwell (seemed too stuffy for us)- it's unique- and it combined our 2 original favorite boys names that are getting to be way too overused Mason and Jaxon.

I recently found out I'm pregnant with a boy finally after 2 girls and I love Max but not feeling Maxwell. I love maxton cuz I can have a Max and its different enough you won't have a ton of them in the same class.

This is actually a surname, not an invented name.
