I pronounce this as rhyming with Allie and Molly as rhyming with Ollie, which are distinctly different in my accent. I love this name!

I would pronounce it like Molly but with emphasis on the li so it would be mah-LEE. But I don't know for sure.

I had a classmate named Mali (college..she was around 19) and she pronounced it same as "Molly". Not sure how it's really supposed to be

Bobcat108 Says:

I think if it's pronounced w/the first syllable rhyming w/Al (as in "You can call me Al..."), it won't be confused w/Molly. To me they sound quite different from each other. Or even having the first syllable rhyme w/Ah would be different enough from Molly. In any case, I much prefer Mali to Molly.

I was a bit apprehensive about this name but now I think it's gorgeous. Mali reminds me of The Maldives or Bora Bora and not like the street drug "molly" or the common name Molly. Mali has a little something special about it. And it's a place name! What's not to like? 😍
