I find this very interesting. I wouldn't use it as a first name, but I would use it as a middle. I don't mind the meaning of "Little dog" i think it's cute and unique.

To be called a dog has always been an insult whereas nobody has ever used lion, dove or gazelle in that way. I'm not saying that that would put me off just that I know where @theodora_phoenix is coming from.

I agree that I don't like the 'mas' beginning which is strange because I've never noticed it in Madeline or Madison before, I guess it just sounds harsher here.

Why not? How are little dogs worse than lions (Leo), doves (Jonah), or gazelles (Tabitha)?

It's like a mix of Madison and "cardigan."

I don't like "Mad" in any name, and I wouldn't want to call me girl "little dog".

I actually really like this, but I hate Maddie. I would go with Maggie as a nickname.

that's exactly why I wouldn't use it, it sounds like mad again.

I appreciate that it is an alternative to Madison, which is overused, but it sounds like Mad Again.
