It makes me think of Kelly/Kellie and Kelsey, and I just think it sounds like a girls' name. Weird, given that names I think of as boys' names are listed on here as unisex, such as Toby and James. Maybe it's me - don't know...! I've got a feeling, actually, that Kelly and Kelsey are technically unisex, but to me, they're girls' names.

I like the nickname, 'Kell', that can go with this name but this name can also stand on its own~

As far as surname-name -n ending Irish-y boy names go, Kellan is one of the nicer ones that appeal to me. It's a nice fresher take on the more tired/dated-seeming Kelly- may be a namesake alternative to honor a Kelly.

Kellen is the original of the name, Kellan being a spelling variant. Though I'm typically quite anal with variants, I do like Kellan much better than Kellen. Kellan sounds lighter and fresher and seems like the "legit" spelling to me, while Kellen looks heavy and seems like the more kreatif version. Handsome Kellan Lutz definitely gives this name a boost as well. Kell is a nice nickname/pet name, or the short simple Kellan on its own is perfect.

I like it spelled Kellan better than Kellen. Kellen reminds me of Keller.

I grew up with a Kellan and always liked his name. No nicknames really, easy to pronounce and easy to spell!
