I have an Uncle Joost. It is pronounced like "roast" or "toast"..this is a very traditional Dutch name.

mnj87 is correcting the blurb. The name Joost is pronounced like the word "host". The J makes a Y sound. It's more like Yost.

The pronunciation here is incorrect. Two "o"s in Dutch make a long "oh" sound, not an "ooh" sound. The name Joost rhymes with the English word "Host", and not at all with "boost".

It actually is not pronounced like boost since it is not an English name. It sounds more like y-o-st with a looong "o".

I don't like how it sounds. "Give me a boost, Joost." The poor boy would get teased!
