A lovely hidden gem.

I knew a Gretel when I was little (and reading many a fairy tale), and I don't remember ever thinking about Handel and Gretel. Once it's affixed to a person, it changes character you know?

👍 I love Gretel! I think Greta would be a good name too. Maybe Greta nn Gretel?

I really do love it!

Why is it unfortunate? Personally, I see the fairytale as a cute plus.

I like Greta but Gretel is just better IMO. The Hansel and Gretel association is just unavoidable and unfortunate though. It wouldn't make a very usable real-life baby name, but it's pretty and vintage and spunky, and would sound nice in the middle name spot.
