About Terah
Terah goes some distance to making this forgotten Biblical name more friendly. The Old Testament Terach was the father of Abraham.
Terah for girls
The Biblical Terah was male, but the name feels like it could work for either gender. In the Bible, Terah was the father of Abram, later Abraham.
Terah is also a Biblical place name, and the name's similarity to Terra, meaning earth, makes it a flexible choice.
Pronounced TER-ah.
As of October 2026, Terah ranked #8140 in US births in 1991 SSA, peaked at #4682 in 1968.
