Steph for boys

Steph as a masculine name is typically a shortened form of Stephen (or Steven), which derives from the Greek 'Stephanos' meaning 'crown' or 'garland,' symbolizing honor or victory. While Steph is more commonly seen as a nickname rather than a formal given name, some parents may choose it as a standalone name for its simplicity and contemporary feel. As a masculine name, Steph maintains the strong heritage of Stephen, which has historical significance through St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, and has been used by kings and popes throughout history. Though more frequently associated as a feminine nickname for Stephanie, masculine Steph has a friendly, accessible quality that works well in casual contexts while still connecting to a name with deep historical roots.
