Mazzy

Mazzy is a feminine name that emerged in contemporary usage, possibly inspired by the 1990s alternative rock band Mazzy Star. The name may also derive as a diminutive form of traditional names like Mazarine or Massimilia, or simply as a modern invention based on its pleasing sound. With its playful 'z' consonant pair and friendly 'ee' ending sound, Mazzy has a whimsical, cheerful quality that appeals to parents seeking something distinctive yet approachable. The name remains relatively uncommon but has seen modest increases in usage during the 2010s, particularly among families favoring short, contemporary names. Mazzy carries a modern, artistic association while maintaining a light, melodic quality.

Mazzy is also given to boys.

Pronounced MAZ-ee.

As of October 2026, Mazzy ranked #13404 in US births in 2021 SSA.
