About Iside

New to the Italian popularity charts in 2024, Iside is a variation of the Egyptian Isis, the name borne by the supreme goddess, of the moon, sky, magic, motherhood and fertility. Similar in appearance or sound to Isolde. Ines, Ida, and Matilde, this form escapes the connection to ISIS (an acronym for Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), which led to a decline in use of the name in the US, France, and the Netherlands in the 2010s.

Steadily on the rise in Italy throughout the 2010s, it may have been boosted up the charts by the 2019 release of a song called Iside by Italian rapper Lazza, also featuring Luchè.

Pronounced ee-SEE-deh.
