Prunella's International Variations

Prunelle, Prune (French)

NovaRaya Says:

This is the name of a character on the children's show, Arthur, and since I grew up watching that show, that's what first came to mind. I remember not liking this character too much, so it's not a good association for me. Also, not to mention that this name contains the word "Prune" so the poor child would probably be teased to death even when they become an adult. Overall, not a fan.

AldabellaxWulfe Says:

When pronounced correctly as 'PRU-nella', I think that it's delicate and perfectly lovely. But the moment you start seeing it as 'PRUNE-ella', it quickly loses its charm. Which is frustrating because it's such a sweet choice!

Daiseymae Says:

Prunella reminds me of a sour faced old woman. I keep thinking of the phrase: You look like you have swallowed a prune!

snowsbeloved Says:

Ugh! No way! I'd rather use Plum.

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

I like prunes anyway, so that wouldn't bother me. And Prunella is way more unique than Penelope. Better than naming your kid PLUM!

h0neybee Says:

Sounds a bit like a super villain in a children's movie.

Saffron_Rice Says:

This name has the pretty nicknames Pru, Nel and Ella. I think it's totally usable for a girl today.
