I think the association with Macpherson's hero is a great one, and this is a nice alternative to popular Oscar and rising Cassian (I've heard this pronounced "OSS-ee-uhn", and the adjective Ossianic "oss-ee-ANN-ick"). Nickname Oz or Ozzie would be super cute.
