So I got into a controversy somehow and someone said "well, would you name your son Madelynn?"

Well, I love Brooklyn for a boy and I'm against the sexist standards that get placed on names (mostly) so heck. Why not. What with girls named Ezra and such.

This is my first name and I'm seriously considering changing my name when I turn eighteen. Everyone spells it differently and I hate having to correct people. Hopefully most people can spell Alice.

I considered this variation for my little girl, not because I like it but I thought we might avoid the questions about pronunciation we knew we'd get by choosing "Madeleine" instead. "Madelyn" lacked the lengthiness I love about the original and I thought the two "n's" would stretch it out and make it look more complete. I really tried to convince myself but I couldn't do it and although my little girl may have to correct people regularly, I think she'll grow to be proud of the authentic, classic, beautiful and elegant Madeleine.
