There is a big difference between naming your daughter a unisex name like Jordan or Dakota and this.

Wow. Gary has always seemed to me the most ugly name on earth. To wish this on either gender seems cruel (I know there are nice people named Gary - I am just responding to it as a name).

RoddyThlayli Says:

The only Gary I know is my great uncle--an extremely nice old man, but I'm not a fan of his name on a girl. Or Barry or Perry either.

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

Honestly to me, the name Gary brings to mind a certain ccartoon character. I don't really picture it on any sort of person. And is it any worse than calling a girl Baldwin, Howard, Murray, Douglas, or Wendell? Nameberry has girl pages for all those names, too.

When I clicked on the "boy names for girls" list I expected to be irritated at lovely masculine names being rendered 'girly'. I never in a million years would have expected to see GARY on this list - how can a name that conjures an image of a 40ish man with a bit of stubble and a beer belly ever be considered acceptable on a little girl?!?!

Theodora_Phoenix Says:

I know I shouldn't like this, but I do! Argh, I must be crazy.
