We are considering naming our daughter Fiona Grace, with the nickname Fig. Better than Fi, in my opinion.

I immediately thought of the expression 'I couldn't give a fig' - not the most well known nowadays but still present, and still mildly negative. In truth, Clementine and Pomeline are the only two fruit names I can tolerate, but I'll admit that Fig isn't too bad, or at least, not half as sticky-sweet and nauseatingly childish as Apple, Peaches, and Plum.

I really like it as a nickname or middle name, but probably not a first

My friend suggested this for my daughter when we found out she was a girl... I *think* she was joking!

I know a (male) cat called Fig now - short for Figaro.

A cute thought, but I'm not sure I like it.

An unusual, spunky choice - but only as a nickname.
