I'm of Indian descent, and this is traditionally pronounced like the word "they've" although in the US many Indian-American Devs pronounce it either like Dave or like the first syllable of "developing."

I have heard "Dehv" from Indian speakers, I'm guessing there are regional differences in pronounciation given India's rich linguistic landscape.

It's pronounced Dave? I didn't realise that.

I love Dev, but I still kind of prefer it to be short for Devon. I just adore the sound, but I feel like I want it to be a nickname, not a full name. And it literally means "god"?

I can't help but remember Steve Ballmer's Developers, developers, developers, developers...

It sounds like it's missing a syllable

Hindu/Sanskrit name meaning god. Pronounced Daiv/Dave.
My nephew was just given this name, and I made his Indian father say it half a dozen times to make sure I was hearing/saying it right.
