I think it's more interesting and unusual than Davina. It would be a good way to honour a David, as you mentioned. It would make an attractive first or middle name.

It's odd because it's just a feminization of David, but I really love this name. I actually knew one Davida and she was gorgeous. My brother's name is David so I might use it someday.
