It's pronounced shen-SAW(n). It's very pretty, but it's the name of a choir at my school. Not a bad association, but it definitely takes away from the "name" feel of it, if that makes any sense.

Tbf though, I could see the name Song catching on! It seems like one of those words that some parents would just love to use as a name. Not saying I would use it mind or Chanson for that matter.

I named my kitten Chanson. But it wouldn't work for a child in my eyes; it isn't a name in France, as amberdaydream said, any more than Song is one in English-speaking countries.

This name is not used in France. But they do use Melodie / Mélodie. That works easier in French and English speaking countries, has a similar meaning, and is generally easier and prettier.
