My son is "Zane Benaiah" .Nameberry's definition is lacking in substance, and does not do the name justice, but we chose Benaiah because it means "God has Built" and because of the story of Benaiah in the Old Testament. Benaiah was one of David's mighty men, and he killed a lion, in a pit, on a snowy day --- basically, he overcame great odds. When I think of the name, I think of "overcomer" and a will to persevere. And when little Zane Benaiah was born 8 weeks early, he did just that.

Found this name when looking for an alternative to Benjamin (which I love but fear about how common it is). I'm not sure about this but it's definitely an option for someone who likes the nickname Ben but wants something more unusual. This fits right in with many other biblical classics such as Josiah and Isaiah.
