This phonetic spelling of the Kardashian baby name Dream surprised many by being one of the fastest-rising girl names of 2022. Both Dream and Jream were still only given to under 100 boys the same year.

Nico is a fun and lively nickname, full of charm, and suitable both as a full name and a short form. Nikko is a unique spelling that currently sits just outside of the US Top 1000.

American rapper and singer Ashnikko, whose full name is Ashton Nicole, might help this variant feel more familiar.

About 100 baby boys were named Lucio in the US last year, a number we expect to increase with the growing popularity of all names in the Lu family. It's a family united by sound, with three main branches.

Lucio belongs with the light-meaning names such as Lucius, Lucy, Lucia, and Lux. Then there is the Luke, Lucas, and Luca names that mean "man from Lucanus." Both these branches are rooted in the Latin.

Louis, Louise, Luis, and Louisa have French and German roots and mean "renowned warrior".

Pronunciation of Lucio differs according to country. Spanish and Portuguese speakers pronounce the c like an s and may emphasize the first or the second syllable, depending on country. So the options are LOO-see-oh or loo-SEE-oh.

Italians pronounce the c like the English ch and pronounce the name with only two syllables: LOO-cho.

When the King was alive, and for years afterwards, few people (except Declan McManus who became Elvis Costello) dared use his singular name, but now it's very much up for grabs.
The name Elvis is connected to the Irish Ailbhe, and the Irish saint of that name is also known as Elvis of Munster. There is also evidence that the name may originate from the old English Helwise, which in turn led to the surname Elwes.
Elvis was the middle name of the singer's dad, Vernon. Anthony Perkins, a big Elvis fan, gave the name to his now grown son in 1976. Other aficionados, such as Cindy Crawford, have opted for the surname Presley.

A name with aspirations towards strength, solidity, and caring, Sanad has more than doubled in use since 2020 in the US. Given to around 120 boys in a recent year, Sanad is also used to refer to a chain of narrators in Islamic Hadith studies. Egyptian actress, model, and internet personality, Nesrin Sanad, may have drawn more attention to this name.

Avyan is a modern masculine name with possible Sanskrit or Indian origins. It may be derived from Sanskrit roots such as "avya" meaning "protection" or "shelter." Alternatively, it could be a contemporary variation of names like Avyan or Avian. The name has a melodic quality with its two syllables and soft consonants. Avyan has gained some popularity in Indian communities in recent years, particularly among parents seeking names with cultural significance but a contemporary sound. The name is still relatively uncommon globally, giving it a distinctive quality. Its brevity and easy pronunciation make it accessible across different cultures while maintaining its unique identity and potential cultural connections.

With parents beginning to show an interest in virtue names for boys, this Puritan favorite just might be revived, for what could be more admirable than nobility in terms of having strength of character, dignity, and high moral ideals?
Noble was actually on the Social Security list from at least 1880 to 1954, reaching as high as 312 in 1901.
Noble Sissle was an early jazz legend, noted for his collaboration with songwriter Eubie Blake.

Viraj is a Sanskrit name and a modern form of Viraja, a mythical being in Hindu mythology associated with creation, having been produced by Brahma (the supreme director and creator of the universe). It is also simply a Sanskrit word, indicating excellence and power.

A strong name with an approachable sound, it is a rising choice in the US and in England and Wales, mostly among parents of Indian descent. Notable, contemporary bearers include Tamil actor Viraj (Hari Prashanth), content creator Viraj Ghelani, and chef Viraj Naik.

In its original form, Shiloh is a soft unisex name, with connections to both the Bible and American history. While it is often associated with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, born in 2006, Shiloh ranks in the US Top 500 for girls and boys.

Shilo is a simpler, streamlined version, perhaps influenced by other popular -o boy names, like Arlo and Milo.

This strong single-syllable boys’ name has been finding favor with parents since the fifties, though it's been slipping in recent years; it fell out of the Top 500 for the first time since 1959 in 2015. Its main associations have been with the River Trent, whose name dates back to prehistoric times, and with former Mississippi Senator Trent (born Chester) Lott, and Trent Reznor (born Michael) of Nine Inch Nails.
In the eighteenth century, William Trent founded a settlement, which became the city known as Trenton (Trent's town), and that morphed into a first name for boys.
(James) Trent Olson is the only brother of the three Olson sisters; Trent Ford has been seen on Gosford Park, The West Wing and Vampire Diaries. And the name of the Vince Vaughn character in the 1996 movie Swingers is Trent.

Though it has a Scandinavian ring (a la Thorfinn), Torin is in fact a multicultural choice, an occasional feature in the UK Top 1000, and given to around 150 boys in the US each year. Connected to nature, power, and astrology, it is a distinctive yet trendy sounding choice.

From its Irish origins, Torin could come from the word torran meaning "little hill", or from the name Torán meaning "little chief, lord, or champion". As a Spanish name, it's a diminutive form of the legendary Hector, and therefore Victor too. From it's French roots meanwhile, it could be an Anglicized spelling of Taurin, relating to the star sign Taurus.

Other possibilities include that it's a modern invention, based on Torrence or Terrence, or an Anglicized form of the German, Danish, and Norwegian pronunciations of Thor-related names, in turn, giving it the meaning "thunder".

The hard 'T' at the beginning prevents it from sounding as feminine as, say, Loren, though it is still given to a handful of girls each year, perhaps inspired by Tori. Torin's Passage was an early video game.

Like Harbor, one of the new generation of word names with appealing meanings, though (female) memoirist Haven Kimmel has tipped it decidedly toward the girls' side.

There are now more than ten female babies named Haven for every boy. But Haven is an equally appealing name for a baby of any gender.

Lennox is one of the hottest unisex names of recent years, and this spelling retains the appealing surname vibe and cool -x ending. This form does distance the name slightly from the literary and boxing associations of the original, linking it instead to a tableware manufacturer, a 17th naval ship, and several American places.

While the Lennox spelling is chosen seven times more often than Lenox, the single N option does have a cool, slightly sci-fi-esque feel to it. Given to 170 boys in each recent year, it is trending upwards.

Lenox

Vince is not a short form that often stands alone on the birth certificate, the way Jack or even Joe does, but it has certain credibility as the name always used for football great Vince Lombardi. And as a diminutive for Vincent, it's a far sight better than Vinnie or Vinny or even Vin.

Vince

Bohdi is a masculine name that represents a variation of the more traditional spelling 'Bodhi.' The name comes from Sanskrit origins meaning 'awakening' or 'enlightenment' and is significant in Buddhist tradition, referring to the state of enlightenment reached by Buddha. This alternative spelling maintains the spiritual meaning while giving it a slightly different look. Bohdi gained popularity in Western countries during the early 21st century, reflecting growing interest in names with Eastern spiritual connections. The name appeals to parents seeking a name with both meaningful depth and a contemporary feel. While still relatively uncommon, Bohdi has been gradually increasing in usage, particularly among parents drawn to its spiritual significance and distinctive sound.

If you're going to choose a noble word name, why not aim higher and pick Duke, Prince...or King. The Donald Trumps picked the Barron spelling for their little princeling.

Inspired by the rise of the African place name, Jaire is a recently new creation. The original form derives from a Congo term meaning "the river that swallows all rivers", and is currently a Top 500 choice in the US.

While Jaire lags behind the other alternative spellings - Zyaire and Zaire - it is trending upwards, and as of 2023, it is given to around 170 boys each year. The spelling might take inspiration from the popular Ja- beginning of Jamari, Jakai, and Jamar, or it could be a nod to the Biblical names, Jairus or Jair, meaning "to shine".

After cracking the US Top 200 in the early 2000s, fueled by Jacob's rise, this name has been losing steam in recent years.

But Jakob is the top form of the name in many other countries, cultures, and languages, ranking highly in Germany, Norway, Austria, Iceland, and Slovenia. Jakub is the Polish variation.
