While Hill reads as a nickname for Hillary, adding an S puts it in the same category as plural nature names like Rivers and Brooks. It also softens the name's image: one hill is an obstacle, but many together form a lovely landscape. Hills are also a recurring image and metaphor in both the New and Old Testament.

Poppa of Bayeux was a matriarch of the family that became the House of Normandy. Poppa is a fresh and unexpected medieval name that would work today, given the popularity if Pippa and Poppy.

In Persian culture Esmat (also spelled Ismat) can be a masculine or feminine name. In the West, Esmat could be a refreshing and cosmopolitan take on the more familiar Esme.

Esmat

Similar to the floral name Aster, this spelling derives separately from Old Provençal astur "hawk") and from the Icelandic name elements as ("god") and þor ("thunder").
As a surname, it has several notable bearers from the world of business and politics, such as Nancy Astor: the first woman to serve as a Member of Parliament in the UK.

As a first name, Astor was used for a (female) character in Dexter.

Astor

This name looks like a sister to the names Elsa and the Czech name for girls Eliška, a popular diminutive of Elizabeth — and sometimes it is (in German, for example).
But it is also a word in Old Norse and some modern Nordic languages, meaning "love" or "to love".

Isola is also the Italian word for "island" and makes a nice summer-infused name on this count. If you're searching for unusual Italian names for girls, you may want to add Isola to your list.

Isala has a mellifluous sound, and ties in nicely with more familiar names like Isolde and Isla. Isala Van Diest was the first woman in Belgium to qualify as a doctor. Once qualified she advocated for health care rights for all Belgians, treating prostitutes and poor pensioners alongside more affluent Belgians, and founded the Belgian Women's Rights League.

Though Shuri is a well-established unisex name in Japan, most parents considering it now will be thinking instead of the iconic Princess Shuri from Marvel's Black Panther, memorably played in the 2018 movie by Letitia Wright. The movie character, sister to King T'Challa, is strong, smart and winning enough to make a great namesake -- and it's worth noting that in the Black Panther comics, Shuri eventually becomes Black Panther. Shuri was given to fewer than five girls in the 2016 Social Security count, but we'd be surprised if it didn't pop up on the popularity charts for 2018.
