Historically a diminutive of Wilhelmina, Elma's parent name and soundalike sisters are slowly stirring back to life as the trend for vintage baby names continues. With Alma on the rise in the US, Thelma chic in France, and Selma hot in Scandinavia, Elma could be in with a shot at a revival — especially given the popularity of Emma and Ella. But Muppet Elmo and Looney Tune Elmer Fudd may cast a long shadow.

Ivee is a feminine name that appears to be a modern variant spelling of Ivy or possibly Ivie. The name Ivy derives from the English word for the climbing evergreen plant, which has long symbolized fidelity and eternity due to its tenacious growing habits. This contemporary spelling with double 'e' gives the classic nature name a distinctive, updated feel while maintaining its essential character. Ivee remains quite uncommon as a given name, making it appealing to parents seeking something recognizable yet unique. The name carries the same positive associations as Ivy—resilience, growth, and natural beauty—while its unusual spelling adds a modern twist. The short, melodic quality of Ivee makes it both memorable and easy to pronounce.

Lark is getting some new and well-deserved attention as a post-Robin and Raven bird name. Although it was first recorded as a name in the 1830's, it has never appeared on the Social Security list.
'The Lark' was used as a nickname for Cosette in Les Miserables; Lark Voorhees was a star of Saved by the Bell, and Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany used Lark as the middle name of their daughter Agnes.

The expression "happy as a lark" gives this songbird name a cheery image, as well as a 'lark' being a synonym for a merry time..
Larkin is a pretty extension, as is Skylark, which is rich in cultural associations: there's the Percy Bysshe Shelley ode To a Skylark and the jazz classic Skylark written by Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael..
