While the ancient city of Delphi likely derived from Greek delphys meaning "womb", as a name. Delphi could also link to the Greek delphínion meaning "dolphin", and therefore to the flower genus, delphinium, giving it two separate nature connections.

Dermot is an appealing, relatively undiscovered Irish mythological hero's name long popular in the Old Country, and imported into the American consciousness by actor Dermot Mulroney. We see it in the next Celtic wave following Connor and Liam.

Desdemona is as Shakespearean as a name can be, but because the beautiful and innocent wife of Othello came to such a tragic end, her name has been avoided for centuries. But at this point in time, there might be some adventurous parents willing to overlook that.
Jeffrey Eugenides used the name for a character in his novel Middlesex.
And for those seeking some celestial cred, Desdemona belongs to the Shakespearean Portia Group of satellites, which also includes Bianca, Cressida, Juliet, Portia, Rosalind, Cupid, Belinda and Perdita.

It has only ranked in the US Top 1000 once, in 1964 at #637, after a popular TV series based on the novel was aired that year. It was given to fewer than 10 baby boys in the latest year on record.

Dexie is a spirited feminine name with modern appeal. It likely developed as a diminutive of Dexter, which comes from Latin meaning 'right-handed' or 'skilled'. Alternatively, it may be a creative spelling variant of Dixie, a name associated with the American South. The name has a cheerful, energetic quality with its bouncy 'ex' sound followed by the feminine 'ie' ending. Dexie remains relatively uncommon as a given name, making it distinctive for those seeking something unique yet accessible. It projects an image of brightness and dexterity, potentially reflecting skillfulness or adroitness. The name's contemporary feel and upbeat sound have given it modest appeal among parents looking for names that are short, spunky, and memorable without being overly elaborate.
