Valley
About Valley
Powerful yet sweet, this evocative word name has been a fast rising choice in the 2020s, for girls, that is. Conjuring up images of mountains, hills, rivers and streams, Valley made its debut as a boy name in the US charts in 2024.
Given to seven boys (compared to 142 girls), Valley has the advantage of being a nature name with a similar sound to more established names, such as Valentine, Callan, Ali, and Wally, in turn, making it feel more grounded. Used by Kailyn Lowry (of Teen Mom fame) for her daughter in 2023, the name has now been exposed to a wider audience, which may lead to it climbing higher for boys too. In fact, Australian influencer Kayla Gane chose Valley Reid for her son, born in 2025.
Pronounced VAL-ee.
As of October 2026, Valley ranked #11896 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #2896 in 1914.
Editor's take: The name Valley is a boy's name of English origin meaning "low area of land between hills and mountains".
