Alternatives to Ella

Ella is such a beautiful name! But I know more Ellas than Emmas, and factoring in the Elizabeths and Eleanors, it's more popular than lots of parents would prefer. Here are some beautiful alternatives, that retain the sound, style, and image, without the popularity.

Etka is a distinctive feminine name with possible Slavic or Hebrew origins. In Slavic contexts, it may be a diminutive form of names containing 'et' elements. In Hebrew, it could be related to 'Esther' or 'Etty.' The name is quite rare, making it an unusual choice that stands out. Etka has a concise, strong sound with just two syllables, giving it a crisp and memorable quality. Despite its brevity, the name has character and distinctiveness. While not widely used in English-speaking countries, Etka might appeal to parents seeking a short, unique name with potential ties to Eastern European or Jewish heritage. Its rarity means a child named Etka would likely not share her name with classmates.
