Aside from the singer, there aren't many people around named Pink or Pinkie or Pinky -- zero, in fact.

In its heyday in the late 19th century, Pinkie was probably used for someone with pink skin, not a nickname you'd use today.

This is one name that should stay extinct.

Mysterious. In 2016, 13 baby girls in the United States were given this unusual word name -- at least according to the Social Security Administration. We can't help but suspect that some of those baker's dozen had parents who just refused to tell the federal government their daughter's name.

A daring word name with a touch of mystique, Shadow is an edgy choice for a baby that some may say is best reserved for pets. Nevertheless, it has been appearing in the US stats for girls since 1974 and for boys since 1987.

It was at its peak in 1993, when 22 girls and 36 boys recieved the name, (possibly thanks to the release of the Honda Dodge Shadow range or the apperance of Shadow, the golden retriever in Disney's 1993 Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey). In a more recent year, it was chosen for 6 girls and 14 boys in the US.

Borne by characters in the show and book American Gods and in the game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, it has similar vibes to Raven, Moon, and Jinx, and similar sounds to Shiloh, Marlow, Shay, and Shannon.

Snowdrop is a delicate nature-inspired feminine name derived from the early-blooming white flower that often emerges while snow still covers the ground. This botanical name symbolizes hope, purity, and resilience as snowdrops are among the first flowers to bloom at winter's end. Though uncommon as a given name, Snowdrop belongs to the category of modern flower and nature names that have gained popularity in recent decades. The name carries a whimsical, ethereal quality that appeals to parents drawn to nature-themed names. Snowdrop combines the purity associations of snow with the gentle beauty of a small flower, creating a name that's both distinctive and meaningful.

You can call your daughter Sugar, but it's probably best to keep it as a term of endearment. For sweet names, you try Dulcie, Honey, Mitsu, Amai, Sherine, Melita, Eulalia, or Melina, but Sugar does work as a generic nickname.

A handful of babies have been registered as 'Sugar' over the years.

Y-ending color adjectives like Tawny and Rusty are nowhere near as stylish as the more sophisticated Lilacs and Violets.

Tawny

A creative choice, suggesting the Venetian Renaissance painter (born Tiziano), and the brownish orange red hue that was featured on his palette. But try explaining to the boys in seventh grade that it's pronounced tee-shun.

As a name, Topaz is a quietly used option, with a distinctive ending and a sleek but sassy feel. As a golden gemstone, it is said to have energizing properties and bring good luck to those who wear it. It is also the the birthstone for November, making it an ideal choice for a spirited November baby.

While the exact etymology is unknown, it is believed to come from Topázios or Topázion, the ancient name for what is now known as St. John's Island in the Red Sea. A yellow stone was once mined from there, and while it is now believed to be chrysolite, the name may have attached itself to the gemstone. An alternative theory is that it comes from tapas, a Sanskrit word meaning "heat" or "fire", which may relate to its golden hue, or to the fact it changes color when heated.

Also believed to protect against dark magic and encourage healing and love, Topaz appears in an eponymous novel by Leon Uris, later made into a 1969 Hitchcock movie, in which Topaz was the name not of a person but a spy code name. There are are however characters called Topaz in Dodie Smith's novel I Capture the Castle, in the animated series Trollz, in the Marvel comic book of the same name, and in the show Steven Universe.

In the US, there have never been more than 20 Topazes born in a single year, making it a rare gem among Sapphires, Pearls, Rubies, and Opals.

A sweet, modern descriptive name, with a wholesome and winning feel, Winsome means "appealing, fresh, simple, innocent" or "cheerful and lighthearted." Some may find it a little too cutesy, but with Dolly, Birdie, Sunny, and Blessing on the rise, it could fit right in. Nicknames Winnie and Winn are an added bonus.

Étienne de Silhouette (1709–67), French author and politician, gave his name to this portraiture technique – although, strangely, no one knows why.
