butterflyfye's list "Our Family Names" of 3 great name ideas: La Reina - Deseray!

Our Family Names

Here are the names of people in my family. Some were before my time, some since. All are well suited to the individual, as it seems to go. Some I will need to look up the meanings for. Sometimes I know the first and middle names, but I will list all that I can. AND I will search further to fill any blank spaces. Enjoy!

p.s. This is a work in progress...for now. So please be patient with me! Thank You!
Also, I learned that names in blue are for boys, pink is for girls, and black is for a name that can be used either way.

La Reina

Popular in Ireland, though not as popular as its spelling variant Eimear, Emer is a mythological name, associated with the legendary wife of the warrior hero Cuchulainn. She was said to possess the six gifts of womanhood: beauty, voice, speech, wisdom, chastity, and needlework.

While the exact meaning of Emer is unknown, one theory is that it means "swift" or "quick".

Pronounced as EE-mer, this form of the name was most popular in 1983, when nearly 200 girls received the name, placing it in the Top 50. A more recent year saw it given to less that 2 girls, however.

Other forms of the name include Eimer and Éimhear (said as EH-ver), along with the Scottish variant Eimhir (pronounced AY-veer).
