Zyra

Zyra is a modern feminine name with several possible origins. It may derive from the Arabic 'Zahra' meaning 'flower' or 'blossom,' or it could be a variant of the Persian name 'Zara,' meaning 'princess.' In some contexts, Zyra is considered a creative variant of names like Zaira or Zara. The name gained attention in popular culture when it was used for a character in the video game League of Legends in 2012. While still relatively uncommon in most Western countries, Zyra has been growing in popularity among parents seeking distinctive names with exotic sounds. Its short length combined with the uncommon 'Z' beginning and the soft 'ra' ending gives it both strength and femininity.

Pronounced ZY-ruh.

As of October 2026, Zyra ranked #1732 in US births in 2025 SSA.
