About Zaviyan

A contemporary feeling choice that doesn't feel overly trendy, Zaviyan is a multicultural option with several possible meanings. Given to a small but rising number of boys in the US, it also appeared in the England and Wales Top 1000 in a recent year.

On one hand, Zaviyan may link back to the Basque name, Xavier, via its modern offshoots, Zavier and Xavion. As such, it would mean "new house", which comes from the place name, Etxeberria.

Alternatively, it may be considered an Urdu and Arabic name, with some sources suggesting it comes from Zahra or Azhar, meaning "bright, radiant, shining", and others indicating it is a form of Sufyan, meaning "slender, light".

The name can be pronounced as zah-VEE-an, zahv-YAN, or ZAY-vee-uhn.

Pronounced zah-VEE-yun.

As of October 2026, Zaviyan ranked #3449 for boys in US births in 2025 SSA.
