Oswyn

A variation of Oswin, an ancient name borne by a 7th century king and saint. Meaning "God's friend", it could be an unexpected way to nickname Ozzie.

This form is notably borne by the scholar Oswyn Murray, the great grandson of James A. Murray, a lexicographer and the original editor of the Oxford English Dictionary. Murray is named for his grandfather, who was a civil servant.

Oswyn is also given to girls.

Pronounced AHZ-win.
