Mattison

Mattison for girls#6254 US

Mattison is a modern feminine name that originated as an English surname derived from 'Matthew's son.' Following the trend of transforming surnames into given names, Mattison emerged as a feminine option in the late 20th century, gaining modest popularity in the United States in the 2000s. The name offers a contemporary sound while maintaining connection to the biblical Matthew, whose name means 'gift of God.' Mattison presents an interesting alternative to the ultra-popular Madison, with a similar rhythm and sound but greater uniqueness. Its versatility allows for nicknames like Matti, Matt, or Maddie. The name blends masculine strength (from its Matthew origins) with feminine style through its ending, appealing to parents seeking gender-neutral naming options with traditional roots. Though never reaching the top tier of popularity, Mattison continues to appear regularly on birth certificates.
