Lively

Spirited and sassy, Lively could be a feminine leaning counterpart to the trending boy name Wilder. A modern virtue of sorts, it has more energy that Patience, Prudence, and Temperance, and is far less popular than Hope or Grace.

Blake Lively and the rest of her showbiz family brought this name into the limelight, lending it a touch of star quality. Lively was in fact the surname of her mother's first husband, but Blake's father (also an actor), adopted the name when they married.

While Blake is now a Top 500 choice for girls, Lively is still a rarer choice, though it is slowly gaining more attention. Given to nearly 70 babies in 2023, it has tripled in popularity over the last decade.

Fitting in with the likes of Tru, Chosen, Liv, and Waverly, Lively has a lot of potential as a baby name. If it does intrigue you but still feels a bit unusual for your tastes, you could consider is as a nickname. Olivia "Lively" instead of Olivia "Livvie", perhaps, or a little Lyla Violet known as "Lively"?

Pronounced LY-vuh-lee.

As of October 2026, Lively ranked #3498 in US births in 2025 SSA, peaked at #2444 in 2024.
