One of the newest members of the ever-growing cult of pseudo-Hawaiian girl names, Aylani is a fast rising choice of the 2020s. Following in the footsteps of its alternative spellings Ailany and Ailani, it made its debut in the US stats in 2024, and by 2025, it was in the Tip 300.

From its Hawaiian origins, Aylani could mean "high chief" or potentially "orange blossom" if inspiration is drawn from Alani. Among Hispanic families however, Aylani is likely inspired by Ailyn or Aylín, Spanish forms of Irish Aileen and Turkish Aylin, connecting this name to both light and the moon.
